Adopting a cat or kitten from the Ashford, Tenterden & District Branch is not quite as easy as turn up, choose a pet and go home. But don't let that put you off as its also a fairly straightforward procedure.

The cats in our care are very precious to us and we want to ensure that their new home and owners are suitable, so that the new owner and our cats have the best possible start. With this policy in mind, there are just a few things that we need to check. For example, anybody who wishes to adopt an animal will require a home check before the animal can leave the centre.

That said it is still a very efficient procedure and you can rest assured all our animals have the very best care.

Here is a quick and simple guide to the adoption process

1 : Visit the cattery and choose a cat / cats or kitten

2 : Fill in an adoption Questionnaire

3 : Where possible we ask all family members to meet the cat

4 : A brief home visit will be arranged.

5 : If the home visit is successful an appointment will be made to collect the animal

6 : When collecting the animal, all adoption paperwork will be completed.  Please bring ID with you

7 : All cats must be transported in a suitable carrier

To help you on your way and to make sure everything is ok six to eight weeks after adoption, a follow up home visit will be made to see how the adoption has gone.

Important note : All cats over 6 months of age leave here neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, flead and wormed. Some animals may leave the animal centre before they have been neutered so in this instance a free neutering voucher will be issued which must be used within 6 months of the adoption date.

Adoption Fees

Our adoption fee is £70 per cat over 6 months of age, £120 per pair; £80 for a kitten under 6 months of age, £140 per pair.

Rehoming one of our animals means you’re getting more than just a friend for life, its rewarding too.

Adopting from the RSPCA is one of the best and most responsible ways to bring an animal into your home. We give you lots of advice and make sure you start off on the right foot, or should we say paw.
